Uncovering the Delicious History of Pastelito's: A Culinary Journey

Pastelito's is a Cuban Bakery based in Knoxville, TN that opened this past year off Cedar Bluff.

Ernie and Lyana's family started the idea from the kitchen of their home during COVID as a means to fight the daily mental health & financial struggles COVID-19 brought everyone.

What was thought of something to be therapeutic quickly became a neighborhood hit & two years later became a means of life for their family.

This footage was in the early stages of the dream where the family would rent space from a local kitchen & begin baking pastries at 3 in the morning for the local farmers market.

Making Cuban pastries requires a lot of patience & diligence as it must all be done by hand & requires a 6 layer-rolling process that takes days.

Ask anyone around and they will say they are the hardest-working individuals you've ever seen.

While working two jobs Ernie & Lyana turned their Latino heritage into a means to provide for their family and have turned their dream into reality. I know most say now that the American Dream is becoming a harder thing to chase but watching their work ethic and determination the past couple of years gives me hope!

Proverbs 14:23

All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. The wealth of the wise is their crown, but the folly of fools yields folly.
